Assistant Site/Contracts Manager

We are working with a leading construction company specialising in structural steel projects, with a strong portfolio of successful builds they pride themselves on commitment to quality, safety, and delivering projects on time and within budget.

The Assistant Site/Contracts Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the Site/Contracts Manager in overseeing both ongoing and new projects. This position involves supervising construction sites, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and assisting in the management of project timelines, budgets, and subcontractors. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience in structural steel and the confidence to lead site teams in the Manager's absence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Successfully deliver structural steel projects from start to finish.
  • Assist in overseeing on-site construction activities, ensuring projects meet quality standards.
  • Take charge of managing subcontractors when the Site/Contracts Manager is unavailable.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Consult with clients as needed, providing updates and maintaining positive relationships.
  • Manage and monitor project resources and equipment to ensure efficiency.
  • Assist in budget monitoring to ensure projects remain cost-effective.
  • Perform administrative tasks including preparing reports, site documentation, and maintaining records.

  • Strong time management skills to ensure projects are completed promptly.
  • High level of initiative to handle unexpected challenges during projects.
  • Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Organisational skills to manage paperwork and documentation efficiently.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving project plans and strategies.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills for client interactions.
  • Confidence in leading teams and subcontractors when required.
  • Experience with producing Crane Lifting Plans, Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMs), O&Ms, and Health & Safety Documentation is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of structural steel erection is essential.

 

Qualifications and Training:

  • NVQ Level 2 or above in Steel Erecting.
  • Valid CSCS Card.
  • SMSTS/SSSTS Certification (preferred).
  • First Aid Training (preferred).
