Billing Clerk – Wirral
Are you a detail-oriented individual with excellent organisational skills and a passion for supporting legal operations? We are seeking a Billing Clerk to join our Administration Department. This role is integral to ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of our billing processes and offers an opportunity to grow within a dynamic legal environment.
Skills Required:
- Academic Background: Strong academic results, particularly in English and Maths.
- Legal Experience: Previous experience in a legal environment and knowledge of Legal Aid funding is advantageous.
- Experience in a billing/cost’s role is desirable.
- Familiarity with CCMS (Client and Cost Management System) is advantageous.
- Pleasant, assertive, and confident manner.
- Ability to work independently while supporting a team.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and personal efficiency.
- Thorough, pragmatic approach with excellent attention to detail.
- Proactive and self-motivated attitude.
- Technical Skills: Competent in the use of Information Technology.
Responsibilities:
- File Auditing: Preparing files for billing, including auditing work in progress (WIP) and disbursements.
- File Preparation: Checking and preparing files for submission to cost draftsmen.
- Liaison: Communicating with Chambers and obtaining CF1As.
- Administrative Support: Routine administrative tasks, including document production.
- Deadline Management: Ensuring all deadlines are met through careful tracking and checks.
- File Organisation: Maintaining order and ensuring relevant files are up to date.
- Query Resolution: Addressing queries related to billing files.
- Billing Assistance: Supporting the calculation and preparation of legal help and CLR matters and assisting with monthly bulk loads.
- Training and Development: Undertaking specific training as required and taking responsibility for personal development.
- Confidentiality: Ensuring the confidentiality and security of all firm and client documentation and information.
- Work Standards: Maintaining high standards in work processing and adaptability to changing roles and objectives within the organisation
