Health and Safety Manager – Manufacturing
c£60,000 plus excellent benefits package

This is an integral role in leading the change towards improved health and safety awareness and standards. Assisting and supporting the Plant Manager and senior leadership team the role will involve:
- Periodic audits of operational practice and company procedures
- Arranging and leading on HSE inspections, sampling, monitoring / tests
- Assessing compliance and non-conformances , establishing trend data in team, individual and plant/equipment performance
- Leading and assisting with risk assessments, accident and incident investigations, identifying hazards and unsafe practices and putting remedial plans in place
- Working with the Management team to organise statutory and safety training
- Delivering in house health and safety training, educating staff in statutory requirements and best practice
- Representation at relevant meetings providing input and guidance
- Liaising with other organisations and relevant authorities (such as the Health and Safety Executive (the Environment Agency and the Fire Regulatory Authorities), and assistance and cooperation concerning audits and remedial actions
- Maintaining all necessary recording and reporting documents
What we are looking for:
- NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum) or NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent level 6 qualification)
- Working knowledge of health & safety Legislation and Guidance and its application in a manufacturing setting (LOTOTO)
- Advanced fire certifications (NEBOSH Fire Cert etc)
- Evidence of relevant continuing professional development
- Experience working in a health and safety related function at Management Level
- Experience of managing, motivating, influencing and empowering staff and others
- Experience in a continuous process plant
- Trained and experienced auditor of management systems
- Effective communication, motivation, influencing and empowering skills
- Able to work effectively with managers and health and safety representatives to achieve the most effective results
- Demonstrable track record in leading and delivering projects, objectives and services within deadlines and to agreed targets/performance indicators
- Demonstrate creativity, initiative, diplomacy, resourcefulness, and resilience, in a demanding and fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage changing workload and conflicting priorities
- Demonstrate a professional approach which generates credibility and confidence amongst The Management Team, Staff, External organisations and all other stakeholders
